VTC and mountain bike friends, discover this Arv'vélo route which not only runs along the banks of the Arve but also allows you a small detour via the Ilettes lakes by taking the new footbridge which crosses the Arve to end up on its right bank .
This route follows a section of the Chamonix-Léman cycle route offering a picturesque experience.

This route uses dirt and gravel paths and is therefore recommended for VTCs and mountain bikes. Another route is proposed for road bikes.

Numerous stages punctuate the route, notably in Sallanches, where it is possible to visit the Bourg de St Martin with its Old Bridge, listed as a Historic Monument, and its baroque church.

Further on, a pleasant stop at the edge of the Ilettes lakes allows you to enjoy swimming and contemplate the surrounding landscapes.

Then, further downstream, is the famous Arpenaz waterfall, whose impressive fall reaches 270 meters.

The circuit continues to Contamine sur Arve, crossing the towns of Magland, Cluses, Thyez and its lake as well as Bonneville for a total distance of approximately 50 km.

Guidebook with maps/step-by-step

1/ coming from Passy, ​​cross the Pont de la Carabotte which is on your left, towards Lake Passy.
2/ to the right of the bridge take the road which joins Chemin de l'Arve a little further on
3/ along the Arve and the highway, this dirt road will take you to Sallanches
4/ you will arrive in the village of St Martin and will be able to admire its Old Bridge, listed as a Historic Monument, as well as its small church with its baroque interior
5/ continue on the Chamonix-Léman greenway while continuing to follow the Arve on your right until the new footbridge which crosses it and takes you to its other bank
6/ you will thus join the Arve path which will allow you to stop at the 3 Ilettes lakes to relax along the way
7/ continue this dirt path through the undergrowth until the last lake; the path continues towards a footbridge which will take you to the small Luzier car park
8/ cross the road and continue the dirt path just opposite which still runs along the Arve and turns into a small path along the Arpenaz stream where you will then emerge on the Oëx road. You can stop here to admire the famous Arpenaz Waterfall (picnic tables are available on site)
9/ take this road on the left, always straight ahead until you reach the old restaurant "Chez l'Arlette"
10/ Continue past the restaurant to then cross a passage under the main road and join the route leading to Magland.
